Greetings from a very lazy Sunday afternoon...
Listening to Pearl Jam's live from Milan disc recorded in 2000, I realized I haven't even shared with you all my RELIGIOUS experience I had with these Seattle rockers! I can't believe that was already 11 days ago...whoo time flies (but am I REALLY having fun?? haha)
So we arrived at Sask Place (oops I mean CREDIT UNION Center) a little late, unfortunately missed most of the Supersuckers (boo) but was able to catch them do a song with Eddie Vedder. He was wearing a mask so you couldn't "tell" it waw him but man that voice is too recognizable!!
So the place was packed...I dont think I've ever seen any show here in Saskatoon with that many people. It was pretty kool, will definately make them come back I'm sure. What floored me is what they opened with; Release off of Ten. What a bold song to start with!!! Immediately I was washed over, I felt like my entire being was floating! (it sounds hokey but if you're a mass music fan, you'll get what I mean) The band is incredibly tight...I mean considering some of those songs are like over 10 yrs old...but not once did I feel my attention drift or cringe from anything being "off". There was a fantastic balance of what Eddie called "campfire songs" to rockin like there's no tomorrow!! & very crowd engaging. The band made sure to let everyone in the audience know how appreciative they were of our energy. It truly was amazing. I'm sorry but words cannot describe how f'n great this show was!! Anyways I'm glad I heard alot off of Vitalogy (being my fave album) & not hearing Jeremy. It was classy that they didn't play that I thought. Although I've talked to a few people that were pissed they didn't hear it. Come on though!! They have SOOOO much ground to cover & we were graced with ALive, Evenflow, Betterman...how many top singles do you need people?
I was happy to hear a few obscure things like Green Disease, Porch!!, & Whipping. They finished off the show with no less than 3 encores with the Guess Who's "Running back to Saskatoon", First Kiss & of course "Rockin in the free world". They only reason they quit playing is cuz Credit Union Center turned the lights on during RITFW. How lame. I really think PJ would've kept going! See the set list
here.
So kudos to you Pearl Jam boys...I had been waiting 13 yrs for that moment & you definately did not let me down! Some tears were surely shed & I haven't been able to stop hearing Eddie's voice in the back of my head!
*Natty bows down in honor*
Here's a few pics from the Saskatoon show I've found on the net...both from when Porch was being played. I still can't believe I heard that LIVE!!!
